Identity
Human values are the essence
Cooperatives are organizations of individuals based on the values of
mutual support and democracy, equality, equity and solidarity.
The social and economic objectives are common to all. The legal aspects
and doctrine are different than those of other societies. Their members
uphold the ethical values of honesty, transparency, social responsibility
and concern for fellow members.
The concepts upon which the identity of cooperatives is based are:
Cooperate – to gather with others to jointly address adverse situations,
in order to transform them into social and economic opportunities and well-being.
Cooperation – method of action through which individuals or family
members with common interests may set up an enterprise. Rights are
equal for all and the results attained are shared equally among members,
proportionately to the participation of each.
Members – any individual, professional or producer in any category or
economic activity who becomes a member of a cooperative to carry out
an economic activity or to purchase consumer or durable goods.
