Mining
Concept
Cooperatives that prospect, extract, process, industrialize, trade,
import and export mineral products.
This sector has an enormous potential, which is currently upheld by
the Brazilian Constitution, but still requires special support to organize
itself. Miners come from all parts of the country, attracted by the prospect
of rapid wealth, and gather at locations to extract minerals, with no cooperative
experience. Miners' cooperatives frequently address other aspects, such as health,
food, and education for their members, besides the specific activities involved in
the sector.
