Capacity building and improvement for cooperatives
The National Cooperative Learning Service (Sescoop) is part of the National Cooperative System.
The entity was created by Provisional Measure Nº 1.715, of September 3, 1998, and its subsequent versions,
regulated by Decree No 3017, of 6 April, 1999.
Its objectives are:
- To organize, administer, and conduct professional training and education, the social
improvement of cooperative members and their families, and to supervise cooperatives
throughout the country;
- To carry out the monitoring, auditing and control of cooperatives;
- To support employing cooperatives in the preparation and execution of training programs,
in a methodical and ongoing manner;
- To establish and disseminate methodologies which are adequate for the professional
development and social promotion of cooperative employees, managers, members and their
respective families;
- To coordinate, supervise and carry out cooperative management and professional training
programs and projects for employees, members and their families;
- To work in collaboration with the public sector regarding issues related to cooperative
professional training and management and other related activities;
- To divulge the doctrine and philosophy of cooperatives as a comprehensive
form of human development;
- To develop and conduct studies and research projects on human development,
its monitoring and social promotion, according to the interests of cooperatives
and their members.
